PROVISION OF MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS TO STUDENTS
Background
The District recognizes that is has a commitment to provide menstrual products with no stigma and no barriers to students of all gender identities or expressions in a manner that protects student privacy. Providing access to menstrual products reduces an inequity that may have led some students to miss school, extra-curricular sports or social activities.
Procedures
- The Principal will ensure that products are made available to students of all gender identities or expressions in a manner that protects student privacy.
- Menstrual products will be provided in:
- Elementary Schools – universal washrooms
- Middle Schools – universal washrooms and female washrooms
- Secondary Schools – universal washrooms and female washrooms
- Custodial staff at each elementary, middle and secondary school will maintain and monitor stock and replenish as needed.
- The District will provide menstrual products at no cost to students:
- Product will be available in coin-free dispensers.
- The District will consider student feedback with respect to provision of menstrual products.
