As part of Saanich School District’s Truth & Reconciliation journey, a significant event is happening in
collaboration with W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Secondary and Stelly’s Secondary Schools on Thursday,
September 29, 2022.

A whole school Reconcili-ACTION walk called ŚTEṈ,ISTEL “Walking/Moving Each Other Forward” will
take place from 12:20 to 2:00pm to commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation,
Orange Shirt Day and U, XÁXE MEQ TŦE SṮI,ṮEȽḴEȽ (Our Children Are Sacred to Us - Every Child
Matters). This will include a whole school walk to Pioneer Park in Brentwood Bay where students will
lead presentations.

The District is thankful to local police and fire services for their involvement with temporary road
closures to ensure the safety of our staff and students during this walk.

On this day, leadership students will also be collecting toonies which will be donated to Victoria
Orange Shirt Day.
