Saanich Schools Participate in Skills Canada BC

Each year from February to March, Skills Canada BC hosts regional trades and technology competitions throughout the Province. In our region, the competitions include students from Saanich, Sooke, Victoria, Gulf Islands, and the Cowichan Valley. Students can participate at both the middle school and secondary level.

This year we had 624 middle school participants from North Saanich Middle (384 participants), Royal Oak Middle School (95 participants), and Bayside Middle School (145 participants). In these events, students design, prototype, build, test and iterate gravity vehicles, wind turbine blades and spaghetti bridges. They learn valuable skills and have a lot of fun! Congratulations to all of the students who took on these challenges.

Our results:

Gold - Gravity Vehicles (Bayside), Spaghetti Bridge (Bayside)

Silver - Gravity Vehicle (Royal Oak), Spaghetti Bridge (Royal Oak)

Bronze - Spaghetti Bridge (Bayside)
