Hairstylist Foundations Program

 

Students in this program are fully immersed in the hairstylist experience. They develop theoretical knowledge and practical skills through classroom work, engagement in our full service salon (Studio 63), and community salon placements. Students who successfully complete are able to enter the industry as certified Hairstylists. 

 

Program Location & Schedule

Saanichton Learning Centre
1649 Mt. Newton Cross Rd. Saanichton, BC

Program begins at the start of semester 2 and continues through to January, with a spring, summer and winter break.

Students may have the opportunity to earn up to an additional 24 high school credits through work placements and Youth Work in Trades.

TASK - Trade Awareness Skills & Knowledge

 

This trade sampler program introduces students to a wide array of trades. TASK focuses on the development of work readiness skills essential to the workplace. Successful completion of this program can lead to further training via Camosun Foundations Programs and/or Apprenticeships.

STAC - Skills Training Apprenticeship Carpentry

Students are immersed in the Foundation Carpentry curriculum where they learn the basics of constructing a wood frame structure from the ground to the roof top. Students gain theoretical and practical carpentry experience through on-site learning and community work placements. Students who successfully complete STAC may transition to Camosun College to participate in a Level 1 Carpentry Apprenticeship Program.

TEx - Trades Exploration Program

 

TEx is a trade sampler program designed to introduce students to a wide array of trade areas. This program combines theoretical and practical training with 2 industry work placements thoroughly immersing students in the trades experience. 

Successful completion of this program can lead to further training via Camosun Foundations Programs and/or Apprenticeships.
