
Established in 1994, Alexander’s Coffee has been a cherished part of Sidney’s downtown for over 30 years. Known for our friendly service, award-winning espresso beverages, and commitment to fresh, in-house baking, we’ve built a strong reputation as a welcoming, community-focused coffee shop. Each day, we prepare scratch-made baked goods, light lunches, and hand-crafted drinks—including smoothies and bubble tea—right here in-house. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Cashier/Barista with the potential for occasional relief in the kitchen. This role combines the art of baking with the craft of coffee making, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to both our kitchen and café operations.
What You Bring:
- A love for both baking and coffee—you enjoy creating things with care and attention.
- Previous experience in a café, kitchen, or food service setting is a bonus, but not required—we’re happy to train the right person.
- Friendly, team-oriented energy and great communication skills.
- The ability to multitask and stay calm during busy shifts.
- Ability to work flexible part-time hours ranging from 7am – 5pm weekdays, and 8am-4pm on weekends and holidays when needed.
What you’ll be doing:
As a Barista:
- Crafting delicious espresso-based drinks, teas, and specialty beverages.
- Offering warm, efficient, and knowledgeable service to every guest.
- Managing transactions and operating the point-of-sale system with accuracy.
- Maintaining a tidy, inviting café space both indoors and outdoors.
- Other duties as assigned in relation to the role
As a Kitchen Relief:
- Preparing foods such as sandwiches, croissants and baking pastries such as muffins, scones, cookies, and other products from scratch.
- Supporting new recipe ideas and seasonal baked offerings.
- Keeping the kitchen clean, stocked, and compliant with health & safety guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned in relation to the role
As a Cashier:
- Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service.
- Take customer orders accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Handle cash, credit, and mobile payments securely and efficiently.
- Maintain a clean and organized cashier station and front counter area.
- Answer customer questions about menu items, specials, and store policies.
- Clean and put away dishes as required.
- Work closely with baristas and other team members to ensure smooth service.
- Restock pastries, retail items, and other front-of-house supplies as needed.
- Create bubble tea’s and other drinks as needed.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
· Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds.
· Comfortable working in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.
