Melanie Paas

Melanie began her teaching career as a biology teacher in 2001 and has since held various roles across the Victoria and Saanich School Districts. Since returning to Saanich Schools in 2021 as Principal of Stelly’s Secondary, she has brought a strong and steady commitment to student well-being, equity, and reconciliation. Known for her inclusive and collaborative leadership, Melanie works closely with students, staff, and families to ensure every learner feels seen, supported, and empowered.  She is deeply committed to truth and reconciliation in education, acknowledging the historical and ongoing impacts of colonialism and striving to create learning environments that honour Indigenous voices, cultures, and ways of knowing. With an open mind and a heart for service, Melanie feels both honoured and grateful to live and lead in the Saanich community.
