TEACHER LEAVES OF ABSENCE TO ATTEND UNIVERSITY SUMMER SCHOOL

Background

The Superintendent will consider a written application from a teacher for leave of absence without pay to attend a university summer school course which begins prior to schools closing in June.

Procedures

1. Applications for leave under this Administrative Procedure must be received before March 31 and must include a brief supporting statement from the Principal or Supervisor.
2. Applications must contain the following information:
   1. An explanation of why the proposed courses are unique, e.g., they are offered only at a particular University;
   2. An explanation as to the value to the District;
   3. A brief description of the program.
3. The Superintendent will consider applications not only in view of their educational merit and potential value to the District, but also the effect on the school situation.
