A Message to all Parents/Guardians from the Superintendent (June 2026)
Dear Parents & Guardians,
ÍY, SȻÁĆEL HÁLE (Good Day)
Here we are – at another year-end in Saanich – a time to celebrate our students and their accomplishments. It’s also a time of reflection for me – a time to think about where we’ve been and where we’re going. My year-end blog post, My Reflections from 2025-2026, captures my thinking on a handful of topics. It’s a short 4-5 minute read:
LEADING WITH OUR “WHY” – Why public education is more important today than ever before.
OUR STRATEGIC PLAN: PROGRESS YOU CAN FEEL – We’re making some great progress as we work to build even better student success … but it’s also the intangibles that we’re noticing.
THE REALITY OF AI – Artificial Intelligence is everywhere including in our schools and district office … but it is Human Intelligence that remains our focus
THE POWER OF RELATIONSHIPS - Relationships continue to be the most powerful driver of learning … something that continues to be our strength
I hope you can find a few minutes to read it. If you’re interested, you can also subscribe to my blog and receive monthly posts in your inbox -- they are short reads that reflect some of my musings about public education, learning and leadership. A recent letter from the Honourable Lisa Beare, Minister of Education and Child Care, is available for your attention HERE.
Finally, I want to thank all of you for your support this year. Your partnership in public education is appreciated and valued. Wishing you a wonderful upcoming summer break.
HÍSW̱KE (Thank you)
